Flower Shaper

These serie of vases is the result of experimenting with the capabilities and limitations of clay and a self-built 3D clay-printer. Clay is soft and pliable when wet, but becomes hard and brittle when dry. After heating in a kiln, clay transforms into a durable, waterproof material. The focus is on creating interesting shapes and textures that are either difficult and time consuming to make or even not doable using traditional methods. The material and the method defined the structure, the texture and the form. All working together to help shape the flowers. No other materials were added.

Metamorphosis 3D

A 3D printed tattoo is a three-dimensional, physical representation of a certain 2D design. The result is a bespoke piece of body decoration which is flexible and can be easily applied to the surface of skin using bio-friendly, silicone based adhesives. The positive relief effect achieved after application communicates essential design information through both visual and tactile stimulation. 3D printing custom body decoration is a less permanent and non-invasive alternative to conventional tattoos, offering a new level of opportunities for self-expression and transformation of the human form.

Kintsugi

An object can break itself but doesn't lose its value and its beauty. This is the philosophy of the ancient Japanese technique of Kintsugi, which means “to repair with gold”. What is broken is not a loss but becomes more precious and unique. In the Japanese culture no object must necessarily be perfect: everyone tells its story. Time passes by and from the signs of his passing, it comes a form of beauty even more powerful. Kintsugi tableware is born from this philosophy and makes the gold ornamentation current and geometric, stylish and elegant, for a timeless and luxurious mise en place.

Cilllia

Inspired by the hair structures occur in nature at different scales with multiple functionalities, Cilllia looks at new ways of 3D printing dense hair on flat and curved surfaces. It allows users to design and generate hair geometry at 50 micrometer resolution and assign various functionalities to the hair, such as mechanical adhesion property; new passive actuation and touch sensing on a 3D printed artifact. The project envisions a future where physical materials’ properties and functions, whether eletrical or mechanical can be encoded in the material fabrication process directly by users.

3dtie lace

The Fantastic 3D Printed Neckties from the 3DTie Project Look and Move Like Real Fabric. The remarkably strong 3D printed fabric is made from PLA, and it can really take a beating. The knots are highly customizable, and are available in four styles. There are the traditional Windsor and Trinity knots, plus a Gear knot that was made to hold inserts, like a spinning gear or a custom logo. The newest knot design is the Texture option that shares the basic shape of the Windsor but repeats the triangular pattern of the tie fabric across the knot. (Scott J. Grunewald, 3DPrint.com)
